Ever since I can remember I have loved to be in the outdoors, now as a sophomore environmental science major at the University of Massachusetts Amherst I am fortunate enough to study the subject that I love. As an avid skier, climber, and backpacker the majority of my downtime as a student is spent in the outdoors or in the pursuit of the outdoors. I have been skiing aggressively for the majority of my life, and  have spent many months out on trail, but as of late I have found a burning passion in climbing. 

This past summer I had the opportunity to work at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico, originally as a ranger and eventually as a burn rehabilitation crew member working in the burn zone. The cause for my transfer in position was due to the Ute Park Fire which ended up claiming over 36,740 acres of forest, and as such I had the distinct opportunity of taking part in the recovery effort for the most devastating wildfire in Philmont history.

Whether engaged in the adventures and training of my school year or the conservation based labor of my summer, I have always valued the importance of a delicious, healthy snack while on the go. This is part of the reason that I have found so much satisfaction in the products that Skout Backcountry has created for people just like me. I could be at the mountain, at the crag or on the trail but no matter where my adventures take me I am always sure to bring my Skout organic energy bar and pumpkin seeds to keep me fueled right. The basis of Skout’s origins being set in sustainability and accountability make Skout Backcountry a brand that I am happy to support and represent in my everyday life.
